Meet the Maker

Hi, I'm Jo, the maker behind It Must Be A Sign. Welcome to my woodcraft wonderland and the home of handmade wooden signs!

As far back as I can remember, I have always enjoyed creating beautiful things. 
I studied fashion design and tailoring and worked as a seamstress.  I also owned my own events and balloon decorating business for many years.  All of these roles involved working with my hands and being creative.

Then one afternoon when I had a little bit of spare time on my hands (which is rare being a mother or three) I opened a box that had been sitting in the shed gathering dust.  The box contained a scroll saw and I instantly found new love for scrolling and woodwork!

 

 Making signs allows me to encompass all the skills I’ve gained over the years (patterns, designs and colour) and combine them into pieces of art that can be treasured for years to come.

I love the fact that each wooden sign I make is different and personal to the customer.  Whether it is a round nursery sign, detailed themed nursery sign or garden bar sign the same amount of love goes into each and every on of my pieces.

I feel truly blessed that I have have a job I adore, works around my family and makes people happy.  I am so looking forward to the making many beautiful signs in the future!
